The butterflies have extended wings and dream of flight as their caterpillar body is still transforming to become a sleek flying shape. It is the moment before flight that is filled with the hopes and joy for what lies ahead that Brad Oldham and Christy Coltrin wanted to capture. The eight sculptures in three sizes are installed in clusters and alone throughout the linear park. Monarch butterflies migrate through this park every fall on their way to Mexico.
